Size does matter. Our frames are designed to take standard UK photo sizes and enlargement sizes. The centimetre sizes are approximate. If there is no mount the photo size will usually drop into the back. If there is a mount then the photo will need to be positioned and taped into place.

There will always be a portion of the photo lost at the edges because of the rebate at the front of the frame. When a mount is used a little bit of the photo will also be lost in order the keep the photo in place behind the mount.

For our multi-aperture collection frames the aperture sizes will always be explained on the facepaper.

Selecting the correct frame ranges will make a huge difference to your presentation and range authority, so here are some basic tips to help you choose;

  • Make sure you have the right selection of sizes includin g first time print and enlargement sizes. You should always run at least 4×6 and 5×7, but if you have the space 6×8 and 8×10 should also do well.
  • Make sure that you have a good choice of finishes to suit your customers tastes and home décor.
  • Consider some multi-aperture options for your customers too. If you have the space hang them on the wall.

We will specify if the frame is wall hanging only. Wall hanging frames usually have good quality hooks or sawtooth hangers. Many of our desktop frames are supplied with hooks for hanging either horizontally or vertically. Some glass items and metal frames with slide in backs do not have hangers.

Please check the website or email us if you are unsure. Note we do not supply any accessories for hanging.

We use a variety of materials to give the most elegant presentation of the customer’s photos and to match their decor. The best quality metal frames are zinc alloy castings which make the frame quite heavy and solid as well as steel pressed frames. These can be plated usually in silver or nickel. They can also be coated in an epoxy resin which produces a superb enamel finish effect. We rarely use aluminium for our desktop frames as this makes the frame thin and light. We do use high grade extruded aluminium for our certificate frames.

Excuse the pun, but our glass is a cut above the rest of the market. Our Mirror range is thicker at close to 5mm thick than most of our competitors. We pay close attention to ensure perfect bevel edges and smooth finishes.

The most commonly used wood in the market is pine which is light and soft. We only use this in profiles up to 20mm for certificate frames. For higher quality, better grain and more stability we use solid oak sourced from sustainable forests in the USA. Oak is particularly good for engraving and laser etching. In some cases we also use high quality MDF as this is cheaper than wood and can provide an excellent painted finish.

Our photo frames are usually supplied in an individual white box that is labelled with the range, the size, the product code number and the bar code. Inside the box, frames may be bubble wrapped and/or tissue wrapped for further protection. Some larger multi apertures are also shrink wrapped for display purposes.

Certificate and poster frames are shrink wrapped and have protective paper corners on the larger sizes. Many of the ranges have an individual brown box and some ranges have a choice for online businesses. All Snap frames are boxed.
